champouf posted Sudden Cravings for Chinese? on Monday, January 28, 2013
Hi all, I'm back after going MIA for so long :P My right hand still hurts quite a lot but I can feel it recovering bit by bit :) I only wish that it would recover faster as I am seriously missing out on a lot of trainings and slowly I feel myself getting fatter due to the lack of exercise :S But anyways, my darling bf just knows how to cheer me up whenever I am feeling down. So I went down to his office and he brought me to this little Chinese restaurant which served my most favourite food: man tou! Seriously, it is hard to find delicious man tous around in Singapore since most of them are just too dry. So anyways, this restaurant is located just opposite my bf's office and it was a short walk from there.
The restaurant did not serve this, but bf bought this from another shop and it was amazing! I know everybody is up and about the dou hua craze thanks to lao ban dou hua, but I tell you that this particular dou hua is just out of this world! The flavour is coconut and the meat inside is just so tender and soft :)
Just see how smooth their texture is!
Back in China, this was one of my most favourite food! It looks like satay, but it is definitely not satay. They normally serve different kinds of meat ranging from pork to beef to lamb to chicken etc. And the meat itself too has a wide varieties like livers, ligaments etc. Of course I will always stick to the most natural path which is just plain chicken meat :) Haha
The dish I was looking forward to! :) Fried golden brown man tous. Omgosh. I do not kid when I say this is really damn finger-licking good. Even the butter-milk sauce is to die for! Crispy golden skin on the outside, fleshy white goodness inside, dipped in such tangible sauce. You can seriously go nuts eating this.
This was bf's most favourite dish: of course, he and his craze for seafood :P
Another dish to look forward to whenever you're in China would be their xiao long bao. Unfortunately, I felt like after I ate one of the best xiao long bao in China, it has killed all anticipation for xiao long bao in Singapore. Even the ones in din tai feng can't match to those in China. The really good ones would have this really amazing tasting soup inside which really builds up one's appetite for more. Le bf taught me how to eat the 'authentic' xiao long bao, in which you have to chew off a small opening on one end of the bao and blow to cool down the steaming hot soup inside. Once it is warmed, you drink the soup and then proceed on to eating the whole bao. How I wish I could return to China soon and eat their xiao long baos there. Ahhhh.
But I digress :P This Chinese restaurant serves quite a nice range of food which mostly can be found in China and some of the dishes like their golden brown man tou, steamed vegetables with prawns, their bbq sticks etc are really worth trying out! However, bf told me that that particular shop was not the best in the area, there was one more just right beside it which was considered one of the better ones. Well, bf did not want to queue up and wait eons for dinner to be served so he decided on this restaurant. Haha a hungry man is an 'angry' man! :P Nevertheless, I had quite a nice dinner that evening and I will have to find out their shop name because I don't have the slightest clue as to what they are called :S
That's all for now! Toodles!

Hi all, to those who doesn't know it yet, my right hand is now practically useless right now. Okayyy, maybe not exactly useless, but I literally can't use my right hand as of now :'( I fell off a stunt during Hall Cheer and the fingers on my right hand bent a freaking 90degrees the other way. I also did hear cracking sounds as I fell. I freaked out. I couldn't feel my right hand at all. I couldn't move my fingers. It was just so bad! I cried like mad. Thank goodness my senior immediately helped me ice my hand and massaged my fingers till I regained a bit of feeling. Mu hand was swollen by the end of training and my hand really looked like a balloon D: Even my fingers looked like Taiwanese sausage considering the fact that I have very skinny boney fingers.
After two days since the incident, I still can't move my fingers except for my index finger and thumb. My other fingers have no strength in them whatsoever and it is damn hard for me to even make a fist. I tried writing something, and my handwriting looked like a toddler's. I don't think I ever felt so useless in my life. There are a lot of things I can't do without my right hand, and I am beginning to appreciate the littlest things in life. Even typing this post is making me depressed because it hurts a lot.
Still, I want to thank a few people for helping me.
Thank you Yanheng, my cheer senior, for helping me ice my hand and giving me advice on how to take care of my fingers.
Jasmine, my roomie, thank you for all the well wishes and prayers you have been showering me with :) She immediately called me the moment she heard I hurt myself. I feel so blessed!
I want to thank my parents for really helping me out a lot. My mother helped me in the shower especially when I can't bathe/wash my hair properly. My dad for sending me to A&E to take an X-ray for my hand.
And my dearest bf for accompanying me to the hospital. I do appreciate all the well wishes and concern he has showered me with too :)
All in all, I have to say that I am blessed to be surrounded by amazing friends and family :) I also want to thank all my friends for constantly asking me how my hand is, I am truly touched by all your concern :)
And I will be ending my post here because I can't type anymore :P Toodles~!

Tomorrow marks the first day of my second semester, and I am surprised that even though I am feeling the slight nervous tinge, I still find myself sitting in front of the television. Of course I keep reminding myself that I have to start packing my clothes for the week ahead as I have classes and training every single day. I know the first week is always the worst because it is hard to start getting used to new classes and new classrooms. Thank goodness there are no tutorials for the first week, because this first week also marks some other thing that will be new for me. I will not share any details of it until I have settled it because I have a feeling it may get ugly. But I guess I am somewhat ready for it.
Yet it feels as if I am still in Taiwan yesterday ... ahhhhh I know it will be hard to get rid of this holiday mood :( especially when I felt like the holidays whizzed past me like a bullet train. This holiday has proven to be really a fulfilling one: I made new friends, I spent more time with my family, and most importantly, I learned new stuff. It was truly an eye opener. Of course with the holidays drawing to a near end, I feel my wallet growing thinner than ever. Indeed, with me constantly going overseas and shopping, I definitely outdid myself in my previous times.
After indulging myself so much during this holiday, I also made a vow to myself to work extra hard for semester 2: not only in my studies, but in cheer as well. It definitely won't be easy as this semester marks the end of my first year in University and I have to do much better if I want to pull up my miserable GPA. With that said, I end this post with a ALL THE BEST note for all my friends out there. Be it whether you are mugging like crazy in University, or just finished choosing your course after Olevels, JIAYOUS to all for your studies and passions in life :) Granted, it won't be an easy path, but it will definitely be a fulfilling one!
Go, fight, win!

I'm finally back from Taiwan! :) I went to Taiwan with Aces for the sole purpose of having a little exchange trip with a team of Taiwan Cheerleaders. We went to Vanung University and the cheerleaders were just too good. Whenever I see them doing stunts, it just makes my heart drop. I was simply in awed with whatever they were doing and how much training they had put into making themselves that good. It was just too amazing. I really regretted not taking more pictures of my week in Taiwan :'( and I really had the time of my life in my stay there. I just want to thank the Vanung Cheerleaders for teaching me so many new stunts and for helping me out in so many ways I can't imagine.
I tell you, the moment I saw their team and their bunch of year ones, I was literally shocked. Their bases there were all really big-sized and even those somewhat slightly small sized bases were considered quite huge for us Singaporeans. Plus their year ones were really good! And I was really glad to practise most of my stunts on them and they were so good till the point that they could point out my mistakes and helped me correct them. I just want to thank them so much! ^^ So anyways, here are pictures of my last day in Taiwan, in which they organized a huge BBQ session for the whole lot of us.
My bbq table consisted of Lawrence, Nee Meng, Yixin, Mabel and I, and we really were enjoying ourselves. Nee Meng was the one in charge of the cooking and it was really funny whenever he kept burning the aluminium foil.
There was also this ice-cream counter at one corner of the bbq place and greedy Lawrence helped himself to like 4 scoops of it and piled it on like some crazy person. Hahaha :)
Say hi to Tiny, me, Yixin, Yulin and Ahdong. The two of them at the side are the Vanung Cheerleaders :)
If I'm not wrong, this guy here is called DingDang :) Super adorable name right! All of them had super cute nicknames which was easier to remember, considering the fact that I can't remember Chinese names for nuts :P
Gerald, the bubbly Aces base! :)
Hendro was not happy with this picture because that 'belly' you see there is not actually his belly. It was just layers of clothing which rolled up to make him look like he had a belly. He immediately asked me to take another picture! Haha.
Ahhh, now you can see that he has no belly whatsoever, but I do! :)
This guy called AhDong is just damn good at gymnastics and cheer techniques. He can literally do a layout twist on the hard ground itself without any momentum whatsoever, plus he can breakdance rather well. His techniques are amazing in a sense that he can toss to hands a 58kg flyer with a freakishly large amount of air-time. And he is not the strongest there, so you can actually imagine how amazing their team is.
The reason why I snapped a picture of Ahdong and Yixin together was because I felt the two of them look really alike. I had no idea why but I kept thinking the two of them seemed like a bunch of long-lost siblings. Hahahaha and to prove to others that I was not lying, I snapped this picture :P Can you see the similarities?
Wylie and I: I tell you, Wylie is like some shopping king. He is the only guy who has spent over 2k Singapore dollars within one week in Taiwan. Of course most of it are spent on his shopping sprees :) And after seeing this picture, it is quite obvious that Wylie is a camwhore king as well. Haha :P
Here are 6 people's worth of luggages all neatly stacked up while we were checking in for our flight back to Singapore. Their weighing scale was really small so we had no choice but to pile them up like that.
Our flight back to Singapore was really quite an entertaining one: Lawrence, Minyi, Yixin and I were seating near each other so we started chatting and talking about our week in Taiwan and other random stuff that came to mind. I swear we were laughing so loud that the people around us seemed quite irritated at us. Opppsies.
After touching down in Singapore, my dearest bf surprised me with a bouquet of flowers! He had been waiting there for me for 4 straight hours and he even bought flowers for me. I was really touched even when I was so exhausted from my trip. Thank you bf for being such a sweetie and I really did miss him and my family while I was overseas. I was probably too tired from all the trainings to think about them too much, but I certainly did miss them a lot :)
My trip in Taiwan was a very fruitful one and I had learned so many new stunts and techniques from them just within one week. Plus I also managed to buy a few varsity jackets which was super cheap in Taiwan! Yayness! :) I just hoped that I could stay there longer and train with them for at least one month, because they are just so good. I really do appreciate their effort and patience in teaching me and I wish them the best for whatever upcoming competitions they have in the future. Plus, I heard from someone, saying that when we came to Taiwan, they had examinations coming up in two weeks time. Yet they still poured in their time and effort in coaching Aces. Thank you and I really love you all a lot! You all are a true inspiration whom have motivated me to work harder in my years in Cheerleading.
Go, fight, win!
