" On or off the mats, Spectrum will always be my dearest cheer family ... "
For those who didn't know, NTU held its annual Hall Olympiad on the 6th of February, in which it is known as HO. There are many other sports involved too, but Cheer is the only sport that occupies the largest part of my heart. I went down a tad late but I still managed to get together with Spectrum before they officially went onto the mats to perform. I could really feel the tension in the air when I saw all 16 halls preparing for the big night.
When my team went up to perform on the big stage that night, I literally screamed and shouted my lungs out, because it was just too spectacular. They had been training every single day from the month of December and their trainings would last till at least 12am in the morning. Every time after training, you could see from their faces that they were all shagged and drained to the end. Many people asked why I did not perform for Spectrum this year as it was my first year. Well regrettably, I had injured my right hand just a few weeks into training and I had to rest it for at least 3 weeks. My fingers had entirely no strength whatsoever and it would hurt a lot if I were to apply any pressure on it. So I withdrew from the performance, but I was really quite sad about it.
Anyways, my team were one of the few teams who managed to hit up all our stunts and we were all simply thrilled once our performance ended. We had a mini celebration outside of the competition grounds, but we went back to support our friends from other halls.
However, I was quite disappointed when they announced that Spectrum had not won anything. Frankly speaking, I was quite pissed off at the judges. During the announcement of results, we all had pretty high hopes of achieving an award but we did not get any. Well, many said that the judging sequence was slightly confusing due to cheer being a rather subjective sport, but I shall not comment any further on this. That night was pretty much of a blur, and all I could remember was shedding a few tears for my dear team mates.
But afterwards, the gathering and supper with them pretty much lightened the mood and we all made a vow to continue working hard for Spectrum if we continued residing in Hall 13. Jiayous Spectrum!
No matter what happened during HO, no matter what the scoreboard says, Spectrum will always be a Champion in my heart. The people in there are really the best; they never give up at the slightest trouble, they are always giving their 110% in whatever they do. I truly wish I could perform with them this year as many of the seniors are graduating :( But I know for sure that they will always be in my heart.
Go, fight, win!!! ^^

I'm finally back from Taiwan! :) I went to Taiwan with Aces for the sole purpose of having a little exchange trip with a team of Taiwan Cheerleaders. We went to Vanung University and the cheerleaders were just too good. Whenever I see them doing stunts, it just makes my heart drop. I was simply in awed with whatever they were doing and how much training they had put into making themselves that good. It was just too amazing. I really regretted not taking more pictures of my week in Taiwan :'( and I really had the time of my life in my stay there. I just want to thank the Vanung Cheerleaders for teaching me so many new stunts and for helping me out in so many ways I can't imagine.
I tell you, the moment I saw their team and their bunch of year ones, I was literally shocked. Their bases there were all really big-sized and even those somewhat slightly small sized bases were considered quite huge for us Singaporeans. Plus their year ones were really good! And I was really glad to practise most of my stunts on them and they were so good till the point that they could point out my mistakes and helped me correct them. I just want to thank them so much! ^^ So anyways, here are pictures of my last day in Taiwan, in which they organized a huge BBQ session for the whole lot of us.
My bbq table consisted of Lawrence, Nee Meng, Yixin, Mabel and I, and we really were enjoying ourselves. Nee Meng was the one in charge of the cooking and it was really funny whenever he kept burning the aluminium foil.
There was also this ice-cream counter at one corner of the bbq place and greedy Lawrence helped himself to like 4 scoops of it and piled it on like some crazy person. Hahaha :)
Say hi to Tiny, me, Yixin, Yulin and Ahdong. The two of them at the side are the Vanung Cheerleaders :)
If I'm not wrong, this guy here is called DingDang :) Super adorable name right! All of them had super cute nicknames which was easier to remember, considering the fact that I can't remember Chinese names for nuts :P
Gerald, the bubbly Aces base! :)
Hendro was not happy with this picture because that 'belly' you see there is not actually his belly. It was just layers of clothing which rolled up to make him look like he had a belly. He immediately asked me to take another picture! Haha.
Ahhh, now you can see that he has no belly whatsoever, but I do! :)
This guy called AhDong is just damn good at gymnastics and cheer techniques. He can literally do a layout twist on the hard ground itself without any momentum whatsoever, plus he can breakdance rather well. His techniques are amazing in a sense that he can toss to hands a 58kg flyer with a freakishly large amount of air-time. And he is not the strongest there, so you can actually imagine how amazing their team is.
The reason why I snapped a picture of Ahdong and Yixin together was because I felt the two of them look really alike. I had no idea why but I kept thinking the two of them seemed like a bunch of long-lost siblings. Hahahaha and to prove to others that I was not lying, I snapped this picture :P Can you see the similarities?
Wylie and I: I tell you, Wylie is like some shopping king. He is the only guy who has spent over 2k Singapore dollars within one week in Taiwan. Of course most of it are spent on his shopping sprees :) And after seeing this picture, it is quite obvious that Wylie is a camwhore king as well. Haha :P
Here are 6 people's worth of luggages all neatly stacked up while we were checking in for our flight back to Singapore. Their weighing scale was really small so we had no choice but to pile them up like that.
Our flight back to Singapore was really quite an entertaining one: Lawrence, Minyi, Yixin and I were seating near each other so we started chatting and talking about our week in Taiwan and other random stuff that came to mind. I swear we were laughing so loud that the people around us seemed quite irritated at us. Opppsies.
After touching down in Singapore, my dearest bf surprised me with a bouquet of flowers! He had been waiting there for me for 4 straight hours and he even bought flowers for me. I was really touched even when I was so exhausted from my trip. Thank you bf for being such a sweetie and I really did miss him and my family while I was overseas. I was probably too tired from all the trainings to think about them too much, but I certainly did miss them a lot :)
My trip in Taiwan was a very fruitful one and I had learned so many new stunts and techniques from them just within one week. Plus I also managed to buy a few varsity jackets which was super cheap in Taiwan! Yayness! :) I just hoped that I could stay there longer and train with them for at least one month, because they are just so good. I really do appreciate their effort and patience in teaching me and I wish them the best for whatever upcoming competitions they have in the future. Plus, I heard from someone, saying that when we came to Taiwan, they had examinations coming up in two weeks time. Yet they still poured in their time and effort in coaching Aces. Thank you and I really love you all a lot! You all are a true inspiration whom have motivated me to work harder in my years in Cheerleading.
Go, fight, win!

" A mother's love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity. It dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path. "
Agatha Christie.
I finally have the time to post another long overdue post and it has been one hell of a week. So anyways, I do remember posting about my mother's birthday last year, and here I am again, doing a post on my mother's birthday. One year had just passed like that, a snap of a finger, a blink of an eye ... And within this year alone, I have faced so many trouble and problems, yet my mother never fails to stay by me giving me her never-ending support and love.
One such example would be going through University Examinations for the very first time. Everything felt so different, be it studying methods or questions asked: it was just felt like a whole bunch of alien language to me. So many times I just felt like quitting or just giving up, my mother will be there, trying her best to make me feel safe, telling me to stay strong. It is amazing how a mother's love knows no end.
Due to my mother's sensitivity towards her age, I shall not mention how old she is this year :P I remembered I just had an argument with my bf regarding certain issues, and it was on the day of my mother's birthday. What horrible timing, I know. But through my mother's kind soothing words, the bf and I sorted our differences out.
My mother, younger brother, the bf and I made our way to Tampines Mall to meet up with my grandparents, which they had already reserved seats in Pizza Hut. Gosh, God knows how long it has been since the last time I had a meal at Pizza Hut. I really do miss their cheese crusted pizza which does not seem to go out of trend, lucky me! :)
After having such a filling dinner, I could say that I was too full to even think about having another bite. But, there is always space for desserts!! :) Heehee. I was keeping an eye out for a nice cake for my mother, but she kept insisting that I should just save my money. Of course, I went on to buy a cake for her, with her favourite flavour: coffee! ^^ My parents and grandparents headed home first while my brother, bf and I continued walking around Tampines Mall for a while longer. Well, back at home, I actually found out that my elder brother had bought another cake for my mother to compensate for him not being able to celebrate my mother's birthday along with the rest of us.
My mother's cake! :)
My super adorable mother here :) Don't mind my elder brother's friend and my bf at the sides.
Mummy posing with the cake~ :D
This picture was actually quite hilarious: my grandfather snatched the cake from my mother and insisted on carrying the cake, wanting to be the centre of attention. And my mother had to snatch it back from him, but of course in the end they held the cake together. Haha my family indeed is adorable.
Younger brother doing up his hairstyle before snapping a picture with my mother.
Here is my elder brother's gift to my mother! :) Looks delicious right, but not as nice as mine!!! Hahahaha just joking. Well, we didn't eat two cakes at once, we celebrated with another cake on the next day when my elder brother is finally at home to participate along with the celebration.
All in all, my mother's birthday was a huge success! Even though we didn't organize any special extravagant party for her, she was quite very happy with the simple celebration among the family members :) Another year has gone by and it has got me contemplating: how much I've grown under my mother's wings and it has no doubt brought us closer together, not only as mother and daughter but as friends. I truly believe that my mother can be my best friend too. We spent hours watching C.S.I together, spent hours baking treats for different occasions and of course shopping :) Be it shopping online or shopping at malls, I sincerely appreciate the time we had together.
I wish I could give more back to her, after all her sacrifices sown into this family and into my upbringing. It is amazing how strong a mother's love is and I will never forget how much she has done for me. This post will be a reminder to me to take better care of my mother as the years go by. She will always be my role model in life and I will always hold her sincerely in my heart. Thank you mummy and happy (belated) birthday!

Hi all! It has been a crazy month for me in University, but I am really glad that I have this chance to do so: to be studying one of my favourite subjects in NTU, where the people here are all really friendly and vibrant.
That aside, it's like I am being swarmed with tests and projects all of a sudden, and what better way to relieve my stress than to write it here on my blog(: So far the past 5 weeks of my stay here in NTU Hall of Residence 13 have been such a joy. I have really awesome neighbours, and the best is that I have a really wonderful room-mate. Many of you will know her as Jasmine Neo from the legendary Wildcards Cheerleading team here in Singapore, and she has been a really awesome roomie!
Whenever we are bored in the room, we will just chat about anything and every time we will end up talking until the wee hours in the morning. Most of the time we will be telling each other how hungry we are, and deciding whether we want to snack together or not. Hahaha, those are really funny memories. But the thing I find so inspiring about her is her perseverance and her hard-working nature. I can really see her putting in so much effort in everything she does, that it motivates me ever so. She has shared many of her experiences with me that is really inspirational and touching, and I really admire her for being a strong-willed, independent girl. I have a lot to learn from her.
Jasmine treats me really good; she has been making breakfast for me for the past few days because of my crazy morning schedule, and she doesn't expect anything in return. Most of the time, she will always ask me whether I needed anything. I am really grateful I have her as my room-mate. Granted, I was scared at first because I will be bunking with a stranger, but within such a short period of time, I am really really thankful to her and Jiawei for putting her with me. I have a feeling that this year will be a great year(:

" you were a sister in my eyes, and will always be in my heart ... "
.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.
She has been a true close friend and a very dear sister to me since young. The both of us practically grew up together; and being of the same age, we faced many trials together in our lives. I still remembered back then when we had to sit for Abacus classes and suffered through those long and tedious hours in there. I also do recall us taking the same phonics lessons, as we learnt how to speak and read fluently. In primary school, where they engaged some Buddy-System where one senior is allocated one primary one child to teach him/her how to buy food etc: guess what? Her buddy and my buddy became best friends because of us. How amazing is that? We even mugged through many sleepless nights studying for our Olevels and she taught me Chemistry and History!(:
Many years had passed and now as we are progressing with our lives, this special someone is inevitably leaving Singapore to further pursue her passion abroad. My dearest cousin Glorianne, is that someone. It seems all so soon, that we were just in primary school yesterday and as of now, she is leaving for Colorado. She came by my house one day and we just sat down and talked and talked and talked. Hours felt like seconds whizzing by and she had to leave. Even though our schedule did not fit like two puzzle pieces, resulting in us not spending much time with each other, I still felt this connection with her as we talked. I knew it was an unbreakable bond which had been forged since we were children. She was definitely more than just a cousin to me: she is indeed my sister.
" Dear Glorianne, you have always been an inspiration, a motivation, a true role-model to me. Even though I am the older one and supposedly the more matured one, I believe I have learnt from you more than I can ever teach you. You taught me to smile even when facing tribulations, and that it can brighten up everybody's day when gloom is near. You taught me that fear does not stop you from pursuing your dream; and your independence is what a woman need to have. You taught me that life is never what they seem and if something does not go your way, it does not mean it is the end. My past few years spent knowing you, learning from you, have been a true joy. I know that you will definitely succeed much in life, and I wish you the best in your years abroad. Have fun and remember to take pictures of hot guys there for me! Hahaha. I love you and I will absolutely miss you to bits(: "
