" There is nothing better than spending a morning having breakfast with the people you love ... "
It has been ages since I last met this particular friend of mine. Initially he was just a friend of my boyfriend, but now he has somewhat integrated himself into my life as well and I am thankful for that :) Even though he is so much younger than me, somehow his mentality is that of a 20 year old matured young adult. Whenever I am around him, there is no need to worry about taking care of him or constantly looking out for him, because he is so independent. He first came into Singapore when he was just 11 years old and has been living by himself ever since, and I just find that so amazing about him. For those who still can't put their finger on who this is, his name is Li Kunqi :)
So anyways, Valentine's Day was approaching and somehow he did not have anyone to celebrate with. So I decided to ask him out on the 15th for a round of shopping and sightseeing at Orchard Road. I also asked le bf to tag along since I had not prepared any V-day gifts for him. LQ and I were thinking of shopping for a present for le bf, but somehow in the end, I ended up treating him to just a meal. Haha, I feel quite bad about it though :P We arrived at 313 Somerset and I immediately knew what I wanted to eat - Marche! Oooooo, just looking at their cow-like model-thingy in front of their restaurant just makes my mouth water even though I'm not exactly the kind who adores beef.
PS: Pardon the bad quality of pictures here, I didn't bring my DSLR out that day because bf thought it would be quite a huge burden to lug it around Orchard Road, where most of the time you will be squeezing through crowds and people will be knocking into the huge-assed camera. Hahaha :P
My dinner will never be complete without this wonderful apple cider :)
Bf and LQ ordered their usual pork trotter.
LQ's super adorable handphone casing which he bought in Shen Zheng, China.
Nothing says 'diet' like a very oily covered soup. Hahaha!
Here is mine - rosti with baked salmon. I know rosti is just shaved potatoes but still, I enjoy potatoes more when they are being cut to strips or cubes.
Waffle covered with melons and chocolate sauce. It was really good!
LQ ordered his strawberry fruitcake - possibly the first thing he laid eyes on the moment he stepped into the restaurant.
And that concludes our dinner parade! After this really filling dinner, we headed around Orchard including A&F, just to get a few peeps at their legendary abs-olutely amazing models. Well, personally, I felt like there was not much to see in there: be it the clothing or their models. I thought that bf had a nicer bod than theirs back in his glory days. I am serious! If you don't believe me, I give you the permission this once to go stalk my bf and see his previous picture albums. That would show you! Hahaha :P Well, the day ended with LQ and I buying something small for ourselves because le bf did not want me to buy anything for him, since I had already treated him to Marche :)
Even though this V-day was a really simple one, I still enjoyed myself nevertheless! Why? That is because I get to spend it with two really important people, and I had tons of fun catching up with LQ. Plus I had always complained that le bf was always buried in his own work, but at least I got to spend V-day with him, even though it was one day late :P And I know this may a tad slow in my part, but ...
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

Hi all, I'm back after going MIA for so long :P My right hand still hurts quite a lot but I can feel it recovering bit by bit :) I only wish that it would recover faster as I am seriously missing out on a lot of trainings and slowly I feel myself getting fatter due to the lack of exercise :S But anyways, my darling bf just knows how to cheer me up whenever I am feeling down. So I went down to his office and he brought me to this little Chinese restaurant which served my most favourite food: man tou! Seriously, it is hard to find delicious man tous around in Singapore since most of them are just too dry. So anyways, this restaurant is located just opposite my bf's office and it was a short walk from there.
The restaurant did not serve this, but bf bought this from another shop and it was amazing! I know everybody is up and about the dou hua craze thanks to lao ban dou hua, but I tell you that this particular dou hua is just out of this world! The flavour is coconut and the meat inside is just so tender and soft :)
Just see how smooth their texture is!
Back in China, this was one of my most favourite food! It looks like satay, but it is definitely not satay. They normally serve different kinds of meat ranging from pork to beef to lamb to chicken etc. And the meat itself too has a wide varieties like livers, ligaments etc. Of course I will always stick to the most natural path which is just plain chicken meat :) Haha
The dish I was looking forward to! :) Fried golden brown man tous. Omgosh. I do not kid when I say this is really damn finger-licking good. Even the butter-milk sauce is to die for! Crispy golden skin on the outside, fleshy white goodness inside, dipped in such tangible sauce. You can seriously go nuts eating this.
This was bf's most favourite dish: of course, he and his craze for seafood :P
Another dish to look forward to whenever you're in China would be their xiao long bao. Unfortunately, I felt like after I ate one of the best xiao long bao in China, it has killed all anticipation for xiao long bao in Singapore. Even the ones in din tai feng can't match to those in China. The really good ones would have this really amazing tasting soup inside which really builds up one's appetite for more. Le bf taught me how to eat the 'authentic' xiao long bao, in which you have to chew off a small opening on one end of the bao and blow to cool down the steaming hot soup inside. Once it is warmed, you drink the soup and then proceed on to eating the whole bao. How I wish I could return to China soon and eat their xiao long baos there. Ahhhh.
But I digress :P This Chinese restaurant serves quite a nice range of food which mostly can be found in China and some of the dishes like their golden brown man tou, steamed vegetables with prawns, their bbq sticks etc are really worth trying out! However, bf told me that that particular shop was not the best in the area, there was one more just right beside it which was considered one of the better ones. Well, bf did not want to queue up and wait eons for dinner to be served so he decided on this restaurant. Haha a hungry man is an 'angry' man! :P Nevertheless, I had quite a nice dinner that evening and I will have to find out their shop name because I don't have the slightest clue as to what they are called :S
That's all for now! Toodles!

And so I find myself lacking a social life, how unfortunate that may sound, it does not pose as something surprising to me. Well, and of course when I have cravings, I do try my best to satisfy them and they are mostly surrounding Japanese food.
On a sidebar, I would like to caution you to the amount of pictures I have of nothing but Japanese food and you will be very much surprised at how much I adore Japanese cuisines. These pictures have been accumulated for quite a number of months, all dined at different various restaurants/eateries. I can't remember every single dishes, but I assure you I will definitely recommend the really worthy ones.
The first stop: Sakae Sushi. I remembered it was a rather dreary day as it was raining quite heavily and I just got out of school which was quite tedious and exhausting. So my darling bf decided to bring me to Sakae to brighten up my day(:
This drink is simply delightful; the pink color jelly-looking things are not jelly, instead they are filled with really sweet juices that will burst once you place them inside your mouth!(:
The sashimi was simply bliss. You can taste its freshness despite it being raw.\
And no Japanese dinner is the same without chawamushi!(:
My second stop on another day was to Ichiban Sushi at Jurong Point! I had just finished another tiring day in school and my bf so graciously came all the way to Jurong Point just to have Japanese cuisines with me! Even though I paid for the meal, having him accompany me was more than I could ever asked for.
Another chawamushi for the record! :)
This set may seem rather simple but the flavour literally burst through the roof! The curry itself was not hot, neither was it spicy, but after mixing with the chicken, everything felt like it fell into place.
Ice-cream soda pop!^^
Bf ordered this dish: it was some salmon skins fried to utmost perfection. I know it looks really unhealthy but trust me, you will not feel guilty after eating this.
Third stop of this post: I can't remember the name of this restaurant but I distinctively remember this being at Raffles City Mall Basement 1. I tell you, that place is a true heaven for all foodies! There are so many different cultures and types of food to eat! It was really difficult to choose what to eat, but once you make up your mind, you won't regret it!
I was craving for gyozas and despite it having a weird looking shape, I ensure that taste is authentic!(:
I do recall having a post about the exact same restaurant before as whenever I go to that restaurant, I will always choose this dish - curry noodles with cheese!! Simply amazing.
And there you have it! I think I have finished satisfying one whole month's worth of Japanese food, because as of these past few weeks, I have been craving for Korean food. I am seriously going to get fat from all these food trips, but hey! I live to eat~ :D Plus no meal will be complete without having them with your loved ones, I really do appreciate all my friends and my darling bf for accompanying me to eat all those amazing Japanese cuisines and I am definitely hoping to have another food outing soon! But of course, I have to lose the weight I've gained from those food trips first! Hahahahaha :P

Japanese cravings: I seriously had these for so many weeks, I almost died. Just yesterday, after I finished working, my wonderful bf brought my student and I to Bugis. Well, actually my student and I wanted to go to Orchard Road to shop! But we arrived at the wrong bus-stop and we decided we were too lazy to walk to the right one, so we just settled for going to Bugis.
By the time we got there, it was already quite late, so we only managed to shop in a few shops. I saw my dearest Rilakkuma/Korilakkuma shop again, but with much resistance, I managed to steer away from buying one plushie :'( We continued walking around Iluma and tried some of their mooncakes there. Bf also got us some durian pudding which was just so good! After walking about for some time, we got a little more hungry and we settled down for this Japanese restaurant.
This restaurant was different because within one large stretch, there were many other restaurants, and they were having some food competition: in which customers come and try out the restaurant's speciality ramen and vote for/against him. At the end of the month, the losing restaurant will have to move out of that place, while another restaurant enters and everybody competes once more. Bf did say that in Japan, they had such competition as well, but I felt it was quite bad in a sense that the losing restaurant has to shift to another place.
So anyways, we settled down for some kimchi ramen which bf was eyeing since we stepped in. My student and I ordered some gyoza and fried chicken. Before you enter, somebody will hand a card to each person and the person uses this card to order. It was something like Marche and I felt this way it was more efficient(:
I really liked the interior design of the place. It was spacious and with all the wooden furniture, it looked as if we weren't in Singapore anymore.
This was the pork bf ordered along with his ramen, and even though I am one who does not like to eat pork, I really must say that this was really nice!!
Say hello to bf's ramen!(: The soup was just amazing, I can't put my finger on what makes it delicious, but it was just too good to be true. Plus the noodles are so springy and soft when you bite on it.
I have to say that our fried chicken looked the most tempting! Hahaha, the outer-skin was so crispy yet the meat inside was really soft and tender.
The gyoza was somewhat disappointing because the ratio of meat to vegetables was really off, plus we could tell that the vegetables were not exactly fresh. So it was quite obvious they pre-heated this to serve for dinner. I guess after eating dumplings bf's father made for me, my expectations for gyoza has really gone through the roof.
Here is my student, bf and I!(: We took this in an elevator: a rather impromptu decision which made my facial expressions really unglam. Haha
After our heavy dinner, we dragged our tummies back to the MRT where we headed back home. Along the way, we were posting pictures up onto a chatroom in which another one of bf's 'kids' did not come, so we were tempting him with food pictures, trying to make him jealous too. Of course we did promise him to bring him to this place to eat again, besides I don't mind trying out other competitors' ramen!(: It was a night well spent with good company, amazing food, and just a slow walk back home.

PIQUE NIQUE .
It is my new favourite hang out. I've been to both of their outlets: Takashimaya and Jcube, and I simply love their interior designs. Of course their food is top notch too and I've a feeling that I may be eating there more frequently than I will expect.
Anyway, this time my trip to Pique Nique was with my dearest bf and our 'children'. One of them is a kid whom I am tutoring as of now, while the other is a good friend of ours. Some of you may know him as Hu Shao Ye, who has went out with both my bf and I many times before. We call him 'young master' is because he comes from a really rich family but he doesn't act like a spoilt child. Instead he is independent, friendly and he treats the people around him like his own family.
Being the older ones in the group, my bf and I have a bad habit of letting the others wait for us as we are always oversleeping. Seriously. Every time we are supposed to meet up at 9am, we will wake up at 9.30am, and slowly crawl out of bed. The benefit of being such vibrant youths: they wake up at freaking 7am!!!!! Ahems* So, bf and I took a cab down to Takashimaya, thinking that if we miss the early bird timing, the whole cafe may be crowded to the brim. However, when we reached the place, there was not a single soul there. We were somewhat astonished, as the last time I went there with Ethan, it was quite crowded. The reason why we had this meeting was because both of them just recently celebrated their birthdays, and because bf and I were busy with our individual work, we had no time to celebrate with them. Therefore, we tried to make up with them by having brunch!
PS: All images were taken by my iPhone so pardon the REALLY low resolution D:
While waiting for the kids, bf and I ordered some hot chocolate with marshmallows! Well, mine was like hot chocolate with ice .... -.-" I know it defeats the purpose of it being 'hot', but I was just being retarded that day ...
Here is bf's real HOT chocolate(:
I was somewhat fascinated with the flowers at our table, so I kept taking shots of it. Haha.
This was diandian's (my tutor kid) breakfast - it was called THE BIG BREAKFAST on the menu, and the portions was indeed HUGE.
Mine was a burger with baked salmon and Eggs Benedict. I loved how they managed to cook their eggs to perfection! Their exterior is just so soft and the yolk inside was not so watery.
This was hushaoye's breakfast. I forgot which one he ordered but I could see his face lighting up the moment they served him the dish. Hahaha(:
My dearest bf was so funny, he slapped himself when he realised he ordered baked pasta. He was literally squealing by himself, while the rest of us sat by and watched. Of course I could not bear to see him in agony, so I shared mine with him(:
It was a delectable meal indeed. We all ate to our fill and we could not finish the fries with beef goulash at the end (sorry I didn't have pictures of that), even hushaoye who was the largest eater there at our table. It was a somewhat simple and beautiful morning and nothing beats having brunch with your dearest friends and loved ones.
It was a morning well spent.
