" A mother's love is to be appreciated ... "
I've been delaying this post for quite some time, because I was waiting for Baby to upload the pictures of the event from the dslr onto his Mac. And finally we did :)
That day was a super special day because it was my mother's birthday. She had put in so much blood and effort in organizing other people's birthdays that hers was always the least glamorous one. So this time, my siblings and I decided to do it the other way round. Joshua especially called in a professional and pretty chef to help him out with the cooking, while he baked a cake for my mother (cue picture on top!) That pretty, cheerful, really friendly chef is none other than Kathe :) A good friend of both Joshua and Chen Cheng. I'm really thankful for her for cooking such a delicious meal in my place (since I can't exactly cook nice food) on my mother's birthday. She really outdid herself, preparing a HUGE feast for the family! And she didn't stay for the cake :( So a HUGE, MULTIPLE THANKS to KATHE!! :D
Joshua placed me in charge of buying a present for my dearest mother, so I went shopping with Baby on the day before. Bought a whole set - dress, accessories etc from Topshop :) Joel was also in charge of the present, but since he doesn't know much about shopping for girls, I just told him to pay half for it. HAHAHA :P
On the day itself, Joshua planned for it to be a surprise for my mother, but she came home from work early and we were the ones shocked instead. She was really touched by our sincerity and she locked herself in her room, pretending she doesn't know while Joshua and Kathe finished cooking/baking. It was quite funny, but everything was set and done by the evening.
Here is my mother preparing the table for dinner! Can you see how much they prepared for us? It is amazing :) Heehee. Well, the pizza was ordered outside because we were afraid that there was not enough food for everyone ... But in the end we were proven wrong, because we seriously had lots of left-overs left which was eaten over about 3 days hahaha :P
Another angle of the awesome feast~ :) There is Japanese curry, cold soba, pizza, Campbell soup, chawamushi ... *drools* heehee :)
And this is the super awesome delicious cheesecake coated with molten chocolate with strawberries and coloring sprinkles on it :) In case you didn't know, it was baked in the shape of a HEART!! Ain't it sweet of Joshua to do so? :) Really does emphasize the love for my mother :D
And this is the special birthday girl who is super excited for the feast! Hahaha :)
Even Baby is excited about it. Hahahahaha.
This picture is super adorable :) Heehee, taken by yours truly!!
Birthday girl with the birthday cake~
My grandmother and my mother .. See the resemblance? :)
A family portrait! My dad wasn't there to celebrate because he had to work late but he bought a chocolate mint cake for her before he left for work :) Sweet right? :D
Moscato - opened by my mother and I think this is the nicest wine I've ever tasted :)
The one candle is a ruse .. her age is meant to be a secret. Hahaha :P
Baby pouring the wine for everybody! Including Joel, but he couldn't stand the bitter-sweet taste so he just gave it to my elder brother. LOL.
Aunty and my mother. Aunty has always been the one who does the most work but always remain 'backstage', so now I'm thanking her for always being so hardworking in everything she does without complaining ... and the best part is that she does it with a smile! I will always hear her humming a tune while working so I just want to give her kudos for being the most important person who 'runs the show'. Without her, not one event will run well.
Baby insisted taking a picture with my mother :) Heehee.
I really enjoyed that day because it was one of those days where most of my family could congregate together and socialize over a meal - fellowshipping, laughing at each other's jokes and just being happy. I know most of the dinner conversation revolved around my siblings and I making fun of one another and my mother + grandmother piled on by stating embarrassing things we did when we were kids , all in front of Kathe. Hahaha so I guess she must think my family is filled with clowns and bad jokers haha :P My mother really loved the present but she thinks she is too fat to look nice in it, but she is just thinking too much. Seriously. Haha :P All in all, that day was to commemorate another wonderful year and how much effort my mother has put into raising this family :) It was a day where she could finally have a good awesome home-cooked dinner (thanks to Joshua and Kathe!) and indulge in a simple fellowship with her family :D It really beats celebrating outside in a fancy restaurant where we cannot exactly be ourselves, with the need of having to watch our behavior most of the time in front of a crowd .. Yes my family is filled with unglamorous people with very loud character! HAHAHAHA :P
Dear Mummy, thank you for always being there to support us, raising us from young till now. Even though we have disappointed you many times, you still didn't give up on us, believing that we would prevail in the end. You were always the one with words of encouragement and the strong shoulder in which we could cry on no matter what happened. Because of that, you realized that even in your weakest hour, you force yourself to have a strong front just so that we would not worry about you. Thank you so much for many years of tolerating our nonsense and bad attitude, scolding us and helping to mould our character to be a better person. Thank you for also having the utmost faith in us that we will excel in the future, as you constantly nurture our capabilities. God Bless you for being such a wonderful mother and I really thank God for giving me a mother in whom I can count on for advice, encouragement and support. Thank you so much and we all love you deeply from our hearts.
Love,
Your family :)
