" A family is a place where principles are hammered and honed on the anvil of everyday living ... "
Charles R. Swindoll
This post has been long overdue, and here I am finally able to find the time to post this :)
My family was brought up by two great men. One of them is my father: an honest man who works hard and takes good care of the family. Another man is none other than my grandfather. I've always known my grandfather as a gentle, funny man. He knows how to crack jokes to lighten the mood at the right moment, and he will be serious and strict if he needs to. My mother has nothing but praises for my grandfather as both my grandmother and grandfather put in a lot of effort to bring up my mother and my uncle. My grandfather is truly an amazing man. For an 85 year old man, he seems as energetic as a young man: he doesn't let his age get to his head. He doesn't expect any special treatment, he is not grumpy, he is just a very happy man.
For his 85th birthday, my mother brought the whole family and my aunty to a hotel restaurant to celebrate. Well, it was really crowded when we arrived there, but as it was a buffet, at least we got to serve ourselves. I could not remember exactly what the name of the restaurant was, but it served mostly Singapore cuisines. They even had a make-your-own-ice-kachang booth! Of course I spammed the nutta-de-coco on, because I just love those so much! Hahaha(:
Here is the birthday boy with my grandma(:
And well, my younger brother is just being rather random here. Btw, he is wearing my bf's shirt because he thinks that my bf has a nicer fashion sense. PS: I am the one who chose and bought the shirt for bf. LOL.
Jo-jo again trying to make a point that his eyes are naturally sparkling big.
My elder brother, with his really 'explosive' permed hairstyle.
Say 'hi' to bf! Hahaha.
My grandfather again, smiling as radiant as the sun :) He doesn't look at all 85 years old!
My parents with my grandparents(: This picture was taken rather suddenly, so both my grandparents having rather slow reflexes did not manage to smile in time for the picture. And I didn't take a second one :(
And here is a family group shot to end the amazing celebration. My aunty is the one behind the camera so you can't see her here :( And please do pardon me looking so horrible here. My exams were nearing at that point of time and I had never been so stressful, so I was literally ripping my hair out. Of course I did not let that come into the way of celebrating my dearest grandfather's birthday. Happy Birthday Grandpa!
There is nothing more satisfying than spending a wonderful evening having dinner with the whole family. My cousins were unable to make it but they had sent their well-wishes to my grandfather. Even though this celebration was really simple, it was still very enjoyable. Having amazing company is the most important factor to having a wonderful meal, and I do love having meals with my family.
Even though this post is really really late, I still want to wish my grandfather great health, a strong body, and may the Lord continue to shower His Blessings and Protection over my grandfather. My grandfather's devotion to his family, his Lord and to my dearest grandmother is truly an inspiration for all. Thank you grandpa for all your hard work you have poured into making this family so bonded and wonderful.
